CIS offers the possibility for international students to study during both the fall and spring semesters. Typically, students complete one Spanish language course (at the beginning, intermediate, or advanced level) as well as other courses in areas of business and communications, the humanities, or social sciences over the course of the semester. Some offerings include Spanish Culture and Civilization, History, Literature, European Issues and International Economics, and for beginning Spanish students there are some sections of courses across the curriculum offered in English. Class sizes are small, with a maximum 15 students in classes.
Once you reach an advanced level of Spanish, you will have the opportunity to participate in the Internship Program. Before the start of the program you will be assigned a Faculty Coordinator who will work with you throughout the internship to oversee your progress.
Throughout the year, cultural visits are organized in and around the Madrid. In addition, the school organizes optional excursions to other Spanish cities.
Spanish and international students study at CIS, and can go on to finish their degrees in the United States or in other universities. The CIS faculty is international and bilingual.
