Dynamic university students who have an intermediate level or higher of Spanish and who wish to continue learning and improving their language skills, as well as complete coursework in other fields of study or participate in a unique internship opportunity in a Spanish enterprise are eligible for this program. The semester will begin with a four week long intensive immersion Spanish course. During these four weeks, students will sharpen their language skills, and get to know the university and the city of Madrid, to ensure academic success during the following 12 to 15 weeks of study, wherein they will be studying alongside other international and Spanish university students.
Following the four week immersion course, students will be able to choose up to five courses from offerings in the following areas:
Fine Arts, Architecture, Education, Biotechnology, Advertising, Audiovisual Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Economics
Business Studies, Law, Politics and International Relations.
Some sections of Business, Law, and Communications courses are available in English. All international students at UFV are assigned a personal academic advisor who will be available for assistance and consultation throughout the semester. Also, students may participate in the “Student Buddy Program” and be paired up with a Spanish student who will help them adapt to student life, introduce them students, and making them feel at home.
The program involves more than studying and working. The university’s “Spain Through the Ages” Program, is a great way to explore Spanish culture and history, by visiting cities that have played an important role in Spain’s cultural heritage. Planned full day excursions take place each month to places like Toledo, Segovia, Salamanca, Avila and El Escorial. By living, learning and working in the capital of Spain, students will have ample opportunity to discover all that the capital city has to offer.
